I haven't been through the all the courses yet but being a rock player with some blues backround I think you pointing in the right direction. If you take blues first, you'll have a little better understanding of where rock is coming from, especially when you learn lead. I think it's a good idea!
After all rock was born from the blues, just ask Little Richard and Elvis ;)
