On the lesson about the 12 bar blues, in the key of E, why is V a B7 and not a B?

You could play a 'B' Or a 'B7'. they will both ' work '
if you always take the lazy route

In Blues, the 5th and 7th scale degrees are what make the "Blues" sound. So instead of playing a regular B Major chord, adding the 7th to the chord gives it a bit more of a Blues feel. As Grambo said though, You can use a B, no problem! Cheers!
