How come when I look at the forum topic menu it says there are several hundred to a few thousand threads in the topic. When I enter that topic there are only a few threads in there. Is there a display option I can use to display all threads? All other forums of which I am a member of show all threads all the time and you can just cruise through them, how come here they are only showing a tiny fraction?

Yes.

If you go to the "Account" link at the top of the forum, then select "Edit Options" on the left of your Account Control Panel, you will find an option called "Default Thread Age Cut Off". You can change this to "Show all threads" or any other option on the list.
