I've gained a lot of respect for Coheed. They are a very talented band.

1) The Foo Fighters
2) The White Stripes
3)Avenge Sevenfold
Not bad for a guy who doesn't listen to a lot of 'current' music. :)

Heh, I actually kind of threw them in as an afterthought, since I couldn't think of any bands still releasing albums that I like nearly as much as Symphony X and Dream Theater. OH WAIT IRON MAIDEN STILL RELEASES ALBUMS! New List:
1) Iron Maiden
2) Symphony X
3) Dream Theater

Don't listen to much in the way of new bands, had to think hard to come up with three bands worth mentioning within the past 5 years!
1. Symphony X - the new album is amazing, excellent guitar playing
2. Rob Zombie - been a while but a new album in the pipelines, B movie techno metal
3. Necrophagist - badass death metal album with great guitar playing

yngwie (just because i'm doing a Far Beyond the Sun cover)
coheed (just put an album of theirs in the car stereo this morning. it's been a
while)
matisyahu (love the first album he put out, well-produced but still authentic reggae, not like the much more produced album he put out that got MTV praise)
in fact, i don't know if you guys remember radio stations and tv briefly overplaying that "king without a crown" song he did, but the O.G. version is on the first album; it is so much better that it's a shame people like the watered-down, fast-tempoed remix. like, last time i checked reggae doesn't sound like reggae anymore when the tempo is pushing like 140 bpm. hah.

1) The Who (loved their new album in 2006)
2) Jimmy Eat World (not the most complex music, but there's something about it...)
3) AC/DC (can't wait for their new album this year)

OZRIC TENTACLES
(What, you've never listened to Ed Wynne's guitar magic? I started with Arborescence in 1993 and have never looked back - if you like this stuff there's good news - they have about 20 albums)...
MR BUNGLE
(this can seriously screw with your head, like any Mike Patton project).
OPETH
("Damnation", to put me to sleep - wonderful tones).

Everything I've downloaded from Metric since you suggested them that one night sounds really popish/technoish/gayish.
Is there something I'm missing?
Or is it kind of like my random obsession with Black Sheep?

I dunno, I think they're really good.
Maybe you're just a dork.

1. Radiohead- I love all their albums (Except maybe Pablo Honey)
2. Coheed And Cambria
3. The Darkness (Yes I know they split up, but they just recently put out an album, last year, was it?)
of course these are only current bands...
