Go on e bay and search: pickguards.
You can get a decent set of replacement pick ups (or original Strat pick ups) already mounted on the pickguard. All you have to do is solder or tape the wires to the jack plug.
I got mine for $40.00 and it is a s/s/h with mighty mite pick ups.

Good idea, first of all try raising or lowering the pickups -if they are still too "s'queer" get some kent armstrong replacements (they tell you which is for which position)Take off the scratch plate carefully in case you damage the wiring then observe which wire went where- then change them one at a time. DONT tape them on,please -learn to solder (not hard) and then just solder the new pickup conductors (wires) where the old ones went. try a local or web music store - some sell sets cheaper or prewired scratchplates. If you **** up the wiring you can get diagrams from fender's website.
Accuracy,you say? hmm interesting concept..
