Money over Friends
I have Crate Blue VooDoo I am selling for $800 since I now have the Mesa Triple Recto. Someone is willing to make $100 dollar payments weekly and have already paid $200. They are using it in a good friend of mines band(he is in charge of it until it is paid off, it stays at his house). this means 6 weeks until it is paid off. I have an old band mate who just got back from Afghanistan and is willing to give me $700 cash next weekend. Do I really need my next guitar sooner rather than later?? if I sell it to old band mate..it means $100 dollars less, I have to give the kid $200 back and I get the guitar next weekend. if I sell it to the kid I get $100 more and get my guitar in 5 weeks, if he makes all his payments on time. suggestions??

You made a deal. Stand by it.

I'm with LATS. You made a deal, you stick with the deal. You're only as good as your word. Period. :)

thanks for the support.....well, the kid made his next $100 payment tonight....so I think he will be fine. Although I did not promise the kid anything, it is an implied contract, in his shoes I would be very upset if someone gave me my money back and said no deal. Only $300 more and the guitar is mine. :D I need to call my G.A.S. sponsor...Eric!!!

Hey ZO, sounds like the Kid is holding up to his end of the Bargain. Until he breaks the agreement or gives you reason to renig on the deal, by ethics you must stand by it. If you do otherwise, you will regret that decision eventually by morals. Lord knows best, a deal is a deal. It's evident by your initial post which is just riddled with guilt, even though you haven't done it.... This is caused by your same values that initially trusted the boy to set the deal.
You'll do the right thing, unless maybe I were to offer you a thousand $ in cash right now on the spot, then the moral majority would throw guilt out the window and take their chances about regret. Morals are hard to come by in today's society, so value anyone you meet that lives by them.

I was a little upset that they gigged with it twice when specifically told my friend it was to not leave his house, but he swore to me that he would take full responsibility for the amp, after I "busted" him. ;)

Sounds like the Kid's word is better than your friends, just like the words swearing to take full responsibility. I'm sure the word that he'll stand by is "who wants to pay for a worthless blown Amp"?? " Can't you sell it back to that Kid who wanted it so much"????? "Besides, it wasn't me that fryed it, Talk to Spanky, It's his deal..................

Yea, money was already put down, you have to stick with it.

Did I hear my name? Stick to your word bud. However, if it were me, if someone is going to have to make payments, the gear stays in my hands until the bill is paid in full. I've tried the whole "hang on to it until you can pay it off" thing with "friends", and it never works.
BTW, you selling just the head for 800 or the head and cab for 800? Either way, if you can con *cough* I mean, get someone to give you 800 for it, I'd take it :p...... just messing with ya ;)
