What are they, and do they actually effect anything? just curious.

And killing two birds with one stone, Vibrato, I don't even get how to do it.. not even after watching a video on it.. which is sad. haha.

First thing...rep points are just for fun. They're usually given in rep begging parties, help is given, or something you agree with/ridiculously funny is said. We've had about 832.4 threads about it recently, I started one myself when I first came, so I'm not pickin on you.

Vibrato....Uhhhh, I just wiggle the string back and forth quickly. Theres other styles and ways to do it, such as circular vibrato like Steve Vai. All I do is wiggle the string with my fretting hand while hold the note(s) down. It becomes second nature after a while.
Let your soul shine. Its better than sunshine. Its better than moonshine. Damn sure better than rain.

Thanks, I should have thought to check for a thread about it.

I think there are three basic ways to get vibrato:

1) While holding down the string you're playing, bend it up and down, very slightly.

2) Slide your finger up and down the string you're playing, but make sure to stay within the boundaries of the fret.

3) Firmly plant your finger in one spot, then just wiggle the rest of your hand like crazy. This is what I do. :)
