I was writing an essay for class tomorrow, so of course I have to get distracted and go look at guitar videos. Well good thing I did becuase I found this great video by Marc Seal where he gives a really good lesson on sweep picking. I have seen this guy on TV a lot recently on his new show. Hes really good, so check him out. Anyways, heres the video:

I dont know what it is. He doesnt really tell you any "secrets" that youve never heard before, but for me, he just explained it really well.

hello, im new to this site. and im kinda new to guitar (been playing for about 8-9 months) but have learnt so fast.

i dont have my amp up very loud, just enough so i can hear it and the next room just can. is it easier to do sweep picking with the amp up loud?

:D - The volume doesn't have anything to do with the technique. It's easier to get the sound right using the neck pickup, but otherwise it's all about how you roll your fretting hand to get the notes ringing clear instead of strumming them like a chord.

Yeah - I do that... it's a combination of me of muting with my thumb/side of hand and moving my fretting hand pretty fast so there isn't much to mute. If you play with a fair bit of gain, you have to use both hands to keep it under control...
