I did not see this one coming. I wonder if this will mean a permanent reunion of RATM. A lot of people here like Audioslave much better, but I would be more than happy if RATM got back together outside of Coachilla and did a full tour.

Meh...oh well, can't say I'll miss 'em really. Now if Soundgarden reunited I'd get excited.

 ...No f***ing way.

I can't believe it! Audioslave are such an awesome band, with a great new album - but they're breaking up?! Goddamn it, that's disappointing.

On the flip-side of the coin, Chris Cornell has got a new solo album, and Rage might get back together. So it's not all bad. But still, I'm going to miss Audioslave a lot.

Sucks for audioslave, but imo cornell made the band. Morello's got some decent riffs, but he sure knows how to ruin a good song with a "solo".

I agree, Cornell's magic was with Soundgarden on a song after song basis, not with the RATM crew.

I like Audioslave, but this doesn't bug me all that much. They made three albums, which is a pretty good run. I think any more than four albums is excessive for all but the best bands anyway, so it's all good.

I was hoping to see them live again this year if they toured... Oh well...

Cornell will still play the songs live when he tours... Hope to see his solo acoustic tour this year.

The thing about Cornell is his voice is going South on a Bullet Train. It's getting to an even more raspy stage... Which is pretty cool. But soon he's going to be James Hetfield...

Rage need to get back together and cut a new album. That would be sweet.

i think morello rips in his own way, and it might be a little unfair to say that his soloing ruins songs, haha. well, i would like to think that he could kill it on the axe if he wanted to...

He can. :)

When he was in a different band before Rage started, he was about to do a gig when he noticed that all the other bands were shredding, so he decided to do a different approach on solo's and he came up with his signature "space age sounds" playing style.

Read that in a GW interview.

I've had that issue at my bedside for as long as I can remember.

High-five.

Yeah, but what Adam touched upon is a good point. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if Cornell could handle a lot of the old stuff. I'm sure he has his moments, but his range does seem to be waning.

Well...Since almost every singer these days tries to sound like eddie vedder, we're just gonna have ours fart into the mic.

that is weird. I was never a huge fan, but when I saw them in 2005, them absolutely blew me away!

Still, not so much sad as confused...in a recent guitar world interview Morello assured us that Audioslave were going strong...weird

oh well...I doubt we'll see a Ratm reunion hey...sorry to be the naysayer, but I just dont think it'll happen...pretty much like an At-the-drive-in reunion, which I also doubt will ever happen, but **** I'd love it if it did

Those solos are not ruined, I would like to see you try and play them. You don't even know how to make those sounds he makes.

First of all, yes i do. It's a whammy pedal, not exactly a big secret.

Second of all, this isn't ultimate guitar, so don't even try this crap with us.

He came on a little too strong. But his solo's are a lot more than whammy pedal work, you have to admit. Listen to Darkness, good example. Also, Ashes in the Fall, trying to re-create that solo is like trying to re-create Hendrix's version of the star spangled banner.

I do like some of his solo's. The killing in the name one is pretty cool.

I just laugh during alot of them, especially in audioslave. Sometimes it sounds like they were rocking out, and a duck walked in the studio and started quacking.

I don't like the weird noises for the most part. It's cool that you guys like them...maybe it's just a problem with me :).
