I am wanting to look into becoming an instructor.I do not have a digital camcorder. Is a webcam sufficient enough to use? I have a pro audio card and use sonar PE.So I know my audio would be clean, but the video is what I'm wondering about before I even try to apply for an instructor position.

Thanks

Last I heard they were trying to make a step up in quality in all areas. What I would do since you have to anyway is make a few video lessons. and see how they turn out. Doesn't hurt to try but if you are serious about being an instructor I'd recommend getting a digital camera that can record video.

Your right. But I believe the quality is going to be poor anyways, that's why I asked cause of the quality issue.I guess I'll just hafta put some bones back for a decent cam.
Thanks

If your webcam isn't choppy and you put a lamp behind it for proper lighting it might come out ok. I'd give it a shot. Even cheap digital cams have some video recording. I have a HP Photosmart 22 that cost like $60 that works pretty good.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to say until you actually see them.
I bought a webcam for the same purpose for about $100 but the quality wasn't anywhere near good enough. I ended up using my old
Hitachi VM-e625LA Camcorder and plugging into the computer through the video input.
Even then though, I realized that I wasn't getting good enough quality & had to spend money on lighting and Adobe Premiere so I could do a decent job of editing them.
Again though, the ones I've got online right now aren't going to be considered good enough for the upgraded quality we're going for in the next couple of years . So I'll probably be looking at getting a decent digital camera myself and redoing everything from scratch.

Well I tried it. They turned out horrible. Guess I'll just have to invest in a good dv recorder. I wish they would let you apply with mp3's though.

I doubt it. The main focus these days is ensuring that you can give quality video lessons. When you apply, all of the present instructors vote on your application & I doubt they'll give you a yes without a video.
