Here's a little freestyle improvisation that was the result of a conversation about slam poetry I had on the way to lunch today. It's an mp3.
Click "download now." IMAGINE!
The first part is a little hard to understand. I'm saying: "yeah, late night at the coffee shop / broke beatnicks, bereted black-clad, bereaving the bereft banality / that is life. / There they sit, / improvising their poetry, / Sometimes freeverse. / Sometimes the reverse."
Bet you didn't expect this:

Any way you could put it into a non-iTunes format? It sounds interesting, and I'd like to hear it.

Just download i-tunes, it's free, and I'd have to walk a good ways to convert this to Mp3. I'm not a walking fan.

Poetry Slam
Yeah,
late night in a coffee shop,
broke beatniks, bereted--black-clad--
bereaving the beauty bereft banality
that is life.
Mmm.
There they sit.
Improvising their poetry.
Sometimes free verse,
sometimes the reverse.
Oh they can make up rhymes
in no time
considering themselves sublime
as Longinus,
in his most philosophical mind.
Mmm.
Each one a coffee shop philosopher,
bending over his mug
to recite his Locke.
Locked,
yes, in an internal struggle--
an internal and eternal struggle
against the good
and the evil
of the universe,
knowing that there is no universal,
only the difference between extremes.
Each one a junior Derrida,
Derrida lite.
The ninety-nine cent,
tic-tac calorie
chicken sandwich
of philosophy.
Perhaps with a diet coke.
And maybe fries.
Now, each individual adheres to his school without question--
the glue of cookie cutter Cartesians,
"I think therefore I am. I think."
Slowly swallow silver-tongued, yet soft-spoken speeches
given centuries ago
by the likes of Aristotle:
men greater than they.
These Hot-Topic philosophers
are packaged
for the faux-trendy
Starbucks culture.

Haha, that's great. I'm fine with the itunes format, I can put it on my ipod. I think this song should be in a movie. A crazy sweet movie. In fact...CAN I use this in a video?

Please convert it. I won't download i-tunes(takes to much space for something I never use) and would like to hear it.

Arrgh, damn you people. Ok, I'll convert it when next I have the chance. I promise.

Jolly, you are a genius of ridiculous hilarity. When you got to

...I lol'd. And I never lol.
