What songs do you and your friends end up always belting out on those late nights? Most of my friends also play guitar and inevitably, at some point in the night, at who ever's house we're at, someone busts out the acoustic and we're belting out the jams. Most of us are in our late 20s/early 30s so we're really all over the place music wise. I'll get it started with a few of our favs:

1. Black
2. Piano Man
3. Hotel California
4. Nutshell
5. Comfortably Numb

Being from Nova Scotia... most parties that I go to.. we often end up singing Barrett's Privateers, and Heave Away...

Although Barrett's is sung acapella.. and its the most depressing song ever.. lol

Heave away is just a fun song...
Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.

Hmm. It's been a while since I've been to a drunken campfire sing-a-long but if I remember right, here are a few of the usual suspects:

1) Tangled up in blue
2) Knockin on heavens door
3) Good-bye blue sky
4) Sugar Mountain (that's a really fun song to sing loaded)
5) Across the Universe

In case you didn't notice, apparently I hang out with older people. :)

The best times eh?

My band...we'll chill around the table and drink with acoustics till 4 am.

We usually howl to
*Asshole- leary
*Comfortably numb
*Under the bridge
*Lucky man -ELP

The lsit goes on...good times

When I'm the only guitar player/singer around I usually just play stuff as the background music unless someone requests me to play something... Normally it's stuff like Good Riddence by Green Day or something stupid like that... even though it's a good sing a long song because everyone knows the words to it... If it's me and a few friends I get caught playing and singing a lot of Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, and Ben Harper.... All are a lot of fun to sing with a group of people... and especially effective at courting the ladies... But my personal faaaavorite thing to play while drinking with friends is probably anything by Stevie Ray Vaughan... Texas Flood, Pride and Joy, Scuttle Buttin, Tin Pan Alley, Cold Shot, Superstitious... on and on... After all, it's good drinking music.

Its all about Appetite for Destruction. Anything from there is bound to get people going. We tried to do Hell Awaits but too many tins saw the death of that one.

Last drunken bonfire I was at, somebody shoved a guitar in my hands... I started playing 'Jack & Diane'. Easy song, especially if you are wasted and trying to play. It went good, everyone got into it. I was immediately pwned however. When I was done, the guy next to me started playing 'Classical Gas'.... and did it exceptionally well. No vocals to it of course, but it's still a damned pretty piece of music.

My favorite drunken-singing material is, as follows :
1."Runaway" by Del Shanon - EVERYONE knows this song!
2.& 3."The Great Pretender" and "House of the Rising Sun" - a friend once asked me to play one to the chords of the other, it can still be a chalenge if I'm drunk enough.
4."Wish You Were Here" played a lot faster with SRV style guitar accompaniment. I do slow it down at some point to let everyone get comfortable with it.
5.Blues version of "Enter Sandman" - I like to play songs differently and this one is a perfect fit.
We also sing songs with only one wovel, songs beginning with the same letter, songs containing a name of a girl or an animal or whatever.
Impendance is fruitfull

Agreed! We always end up singing Pearl Jam's Yellow Ledbetter and making up lyrics since you can only comprehend about 20% of what he's saying.

When I was a kid growing up in Southwest Missouri, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils (Jackie Blue, If You Want To Get To Heaven) were a local and very popular band. So we used to sing a lot of their songs.
