Does anybody know of a site where I could download some sort of full-version program for transferring cd's onto my computer in mp3 format? My brother has an mp3 player, and everything I've come across thus far is just a 15 day demo version. And since I have dial-up, it's a real hassle downloading new programs once the trial period is up. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Don't you have to pay for Itunes? I'd much prefer something free. Also, I don't need a song downloading program, just something to transfer songs from cd's I already own onto my computer (and then my brother's mp3 player).

itunes=free, Windows Media Player on XP is also free and does the job pretty well. Nero will also do it but that costs money (though comes with tonnes of CD Burners).

yeah, real player or Music match or windows media will let you download the files onto your computer. i assume they download as mp3 files... :confused:

I use windows media player. It works and it's free.... :cool:
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song. :rolleyes:

When you download a demo, don't install it directly. "Save As" to a folder on your hard drive, and install it from there. Then re-install that stored file when the demo runs out.

unfortunately this doesn't work with 99% of software as the software is accounted for using registry keys even if the software is uninstalled a lot of the time they'll cheakily leave the registry keys there so that they know that the trial is expired. sometimes they might even place/alter system files.
if you want to do some snazzy illegal stuff then look up softwarename + crack on google, but i'd just recommend sticking to the free stuff.
if you're a mac os x user just do a search for plist files and find the one that corresponds to the program you want to deregister and use again for trial.

Itunes is free and I only have downloaded a little bit of music. The rest I just take from cd's to put on my comp. then my Ipod. But I would recommend Windows media player over it. I dunno why I didn't think of that first.

uh, figure out how to hook it up to your computer. unless you have a sterio input on it, you'll probably end up with all mono tracks.

Buy a male to male 1/8 sterio cable. Use a walkman (or any sterio that will take a 1/8 mic or headphone cable, if its a 1/4 cable output, buy the extension peice) and go from the headphone output to the input or mic input on your comp. I geuss you can use the voice recorder to record the tracks ,then just drag them to your disk drive to burn.

Yeah, just use Media Player. But you'll want XP first. As far as I know 98 doesn't let you rip as an mp3 file, as XP so nicely does. Plus, you need a new computer anyway.

whoah i don't use any programs like real player or windows media or anything. i dont use any software at all. all i do is put a cd into my computer, open the folder on the cd drive, then drag and drop files onto my desktop.

But you could save hard drive space by converting to mp3.

if you're talking about mp3 players like ipods, it probably wont because it wont be the right file type. thats when you'll need some software to convert the file type to .mp3 or something.
