I don't really drink, so I don't have any advice for you :o, but I think it's really brave of you to come out and admit that you have a drinking problem. :)

Hey dude, that sounds tough. I dont drink anymore, so I also dont really have much advice for you...I quit drinking mostly because I didnt enjoy being drunk.

If you dont like being drunk, just try not to get drunk I suppose...or flat out dont drink. I'm pretty sure its hard, but if you tell your mates that you are trying not to drink, and ask them to stop you from drinking it should help quite a bit. Unless of course you still want to drink, but in moderation, which I think could be harder.

Either way, from what you describe, it sounds like you are quite an arsehole when you are drunk, and there is no excuse for being an arsehole, ever, so you have to do something about this...

good luck dude, admitting you have a problem is obviously a big step, so hopefully you are willing to work on this.

Alcoholism is very rarely physiological. It's all in your head.

If you're drinking and you feel great that's your cue to stop. It only takes one or two extra drinks to turn euporia into depression.

you don't need to stop drinking, no, you need to start doing something else!

Like a number of the people that have posted, my I don't drink. I've found that the problems that come from alchol outweigh the benefits too much so as a personal satisfaction I refuse to take even the slightest dose. All I can really say is it's commendable that you're taking a stand for your own actions. Too many people would wuss out over something like this. Good luck to you on your endeavor.

^True that.^
You're right to admit your problem. You'd probably be right to take it easy, before you become so used to being drunk all the time that you hop in a car and kill somebody.
Anyways, hang in there bud, you know we're all pulling for you.

Jeff,

I've been through this issue, and it's good that at least you recognize something's not right. My sister has been in and out of rehab, and at one point I finally realized I needed to chill out a bit. Every time I went out I got totally effed up. There are a lot of possible reasons as to why, whenever you drink, you drink too much. It sounds as if you have an addictive personality, which is common in a lot of people who see it manifested in different ways (drinking, eating, shopping, sex). It's good that you took a step back, but if you really want to get on top of the problem you should find either someone to talk to, or else sit in on an Alcoholics Anonymous group, which doesn't cost much. You're still young, but that also makes it harder since a lot of us like to cut loose before we "grow up." But at the same time, it's important to get a grip on your situation now so it doesn't carry into your adult years. It's expensive, and in ways you may not have considered yet. It can ultimately cost you your friendships, your family, and any other relationships you may have. Good luck with it, and please keep us up on your progress.

Jack

Well I don't drink all that much but I will say, it's great that you are admitting this. That takes a lot, especially to admit to yourself. I have no idea what you can do about your problem but just know that I'm really proud of you for that, and we're all here for you.
