Brad Gillis trick

Does anyone know how Brad Gillis did that whammy trick back in the day? He does it in Don't Tell Me You Love Me and also on Paranoid when he was with Ozzy. I'm sure he did it on more songs and other guitarists have done it as well. I don't know how to explain it tho.
