LDCs are much more sensitive than dynamics like sm57s. The down side of this is that it is easy to blow the capsule at high volumes (SPL).

Just turn down a bit and don't have the mic up on the grill and you will probably be OK. If it is a really nice mic then find some one who has an SPL meter, they are not expensive.
