Don't know if anybody else has ever used one of these things but man.... I don't know how I did without it.
Pause control on every show, fast forwarding through commercials, PIP....
... majorly nifty.

This is great. I'm watchin shows that were on this afternoon and skipping through all the commercials.
This is kewl cause I need something playing in the background while I'm recording songs and commercials annoy the hell out of me.

A DVR? Digital Video Recorder? Is PVR perhaps Personal Video Recorder? That's the name of the device. Here's a little SAT style relation for ya. Tivo is to DVR as Kleenex is to Tissue. Spladow! All up in ya face.

Ahh yes...I'm spoiled on the abilities of the DVR as well. I'll be listening to the radio in my car sometimes and won't hear something the dj said and for a split second I think to myself, hey lemme rewind that and hear it again...then I remember my radio doesn't have that feature like my tv.

eww.. I love the 95-99 eclipses, and the new 2006 one is like sex on wheels. I really just don't like the 00-05 eclipses. with the whole "tiger claw" thing down the side as I like to call it. lol. but hey man, whatever floats your boat.

p.s. is it a spyder? and what color? and what mods do you have on it? lol, sorry for all the questions. I just really like cars. lol

Silver. Not a spyder. I have a Ripp Mods 10lbs Supercharger (kit came with fule pump, injectors, Methanol injector, Regulator). Full FlowMax catback from the heads back. Apexi Super AFC II. Custom made 3inch cold air intake. Complete transmission build up. Ripp Mods Limited Slip Diff. ACI 3 puck clutch. 1 1/2" drop on the suspension. intake has been planed and deburred, heads were ported, planed 3 angle valve job. Custom ground cams. Front and rear strut braces.

Other than that it looks stock.

This was taken the day I got it. Nothing has changed on the out side. I just grinn when civics think they can get me.

I thought you said slightly modified!!! lol.

and the ricers in civic are just kinda funny to leave in the dust. the thing is, I just show my superior torque by beating them off the line at every red light. once I am up to the speed limit, I ease off, they don't and think they are faster because they are going 55 in the 40, while I'm going 43 in the 40.. lol

and my car is stock. lol

After a few weeks of using this thing... figured I'd give an update for anybody else considering getting one.

Like, I'm totally blown away with how much it's altered my viewing habits.
I haven't seen a commercial for over 3 weeks. After spending some time programming my fav shows.... every day I turn it on, there's like, 30 of my favorite shows to choose from that I can watch just like a VCR.
Even pay per view movies can be stored permanently.
Live tv can be paused when a commercial starts and I go away for 5 minutes, then come back and fast forward through em....
Recording 2 shows while watching a third....

What can I say. The major advantage for me is totally avoiding commercials.
Whoever those people are that create commercials to completely annoy you and then play them every 5 minutes during your favorite shows, deserve to be locked away in a room and forced to endure them for the rest of their lives.

Anyways.... just wanted to blab on about how amazed I am by this thing.
I come home and there's like 30 of my favorite shows just waiting for me to watch..commercial free.

I'm not a huge TV freak, but one thing I do when recording in the studio, is watch DVD's in the background to break up the monotony from hours of endless editing. There's no way you can sit at a computer monitor for 5 hours, editing little notes and timing issues, without something going on in the background to break up boredom.
This way, I'm not stuck watching annoying commercials anymore.

ie,
(I'm knock knock knockin... I'm knock knock knockin ...I'm knockin on Buck a Day's door... and "Everyone Loves Marineland"

Yea the DVR changed my life too Schmange. It's empowering to be able to cherry pick the best of what TV has to offer. Another thing I like to do, (and this is an uber-user tactic) is when you see a new show that looks interesting, that's coming on in like 10 days, you can scroll ahead and set your dvr. That way when a few weeks go by and you've completely forgotten about wanting to see this new show or special or whatever, it's right there waiting for you like a little Christmas present.

Aside from bigger hard drives, I wonder what the future of these things are?

how about every t.v. station going out of business because no one watches the commercials, which is where they get their money from.

on the positive side of things.. how about being able to e-mail shows that you've recorded to other people? or, even being able to fast forward, and watch t.v. shows before they would normally air. or how about a little tube that connects to your brain, inputing the t.v. show direct, so that you get all the information, without having to actually watch it.. thus saving time, and completely destroying the purpose of watching t.v.

Yep, when this technology 1st came about they had the ability to record the shows and automatically skip recording the commercial breaks, so you wouldn't even have to fast-forward thru them. But of course the corporate sponsors that make the commercials pressured to have that feature eliminated. Oh well...no big deal.

I don't know if they still do it, but some of the European cable companies used to dedicate one channel to commercials, and the rest of their programming ran commercial-free. It forced the advertising guys to be creative. And they were good enough that people often tuned in that channel because the commercials were such fun to watch.
