guitar to computer problems

what do you use to hook a guitar to a computer? im tired of my mic..

Go to radio shak and get a cord thats 1/4 on one end and 1/8 on the other and plug into your sound card. this lets you play through your computer speakers with or without headphones. Hope this helps. Rhino

thanks. is the microphone/line in jack the sound card jack? or is it something else?

Get a soundcard that has 1/4 inch plugs on it so you can plug your guitar direct from the line out on the amp into the pc (or you can hook up a good quality recording mike - use an XLR to 1/4 inch jack). Sounds a lot better than a cheap pc mic. Look into M-Audio or Presonus but stay away from Creative Labs. There are a lot of choices, USB interface and firewire are other availbale alternatives to direct recording. Depends on your system, budget and needs. I prefer direct recording myself, USB can be a little glitchy, I've never had any experience with firewire but I hear it's very good.
