Dude Mahogany is the only wood in a body that I will use for metal! it is so heavy and dense it gives such a thick punchy rhythm sound. It's like a mesa boogie amp, that kind of thickness. For necks mahogany is fine and so is maple. It really depends on what kind of sound you want from this guitar.
