so I was at band practice tonight, when jerome (my youth pastor) says "hey, we have some stuff someone donated a couple years back, why don't you try hooking up to it?" so I'm like, "ok"... yeah, turns out what the stuff was was a rackmount digital effects unit with tube pre-amp, and a midi foot controller for it... after playing using only the presets for like an hour we found some really cool sounds. I haven't even tried to make my own setting yet, though I feel it would take hours because there are just so many things you can do with this thing! I don't even know where to start... he let me take it home with me... so, I'm going to be having some fun... he gave me the manual for it... it's like a fricken novel! it's huge!!!

I couldn't find any info on it... it's called an ARC SGX 2000, and the foot controller is an ARC X-15 (or something like that). don't know how much it's worth, but I'm sure it's expensive! yeah, just thought I'd make you all jealous.

ok, I found out why I couldn't find any info on it... it's not an arc, it's ART! it's an ART SGX 2000, now I found much more info on it.

first of all... yes, his name is jerome, but he isn't black... he's white. not often you see a white guy named jerome. I was a little surprsied when I first saw him too. and alot of people made fun of his name because he had a black guy name.. but you get used to it after a while.

secondly, I don't need to tell him I lost it, he'll probably let me keep it at my house, it just won't technically be considered mine.

yeah, I actually tried making my own setting today, I tried to make a metal sound... it doesn't really work all that well for metal, the distortion is a little too fuzzy, not a smooth distortion like I like... I might try hooking my OD-20 up to one of the effects loops later, and see what kinds of sounds I can get then..

but all in all, this thing has AWESOME cleans. the effects all sound good. and it makes a good crunch sound, just not a heavy metal sound.

best part, the previous owner's patches... he has one setting named "satch" and a couple named "SRV1" and "SRV2"... so, I'm getting pretty close replicas to some great tones!

this thing is amazing!

Jeez, I wish you didn't make this thread. It's too much for me.

ok i got a great story similar to this...I recently moved into this house that was origanilly used for storage for my mom's church. I had to help them move the stuff out and into a new storage place. In one of the closets, me and my friend found an older 16 channel mixer, and two, like new, peavey monitors...loud as hell (cuz we tested em out!!)...AND OUR BAND HAD A PA SYSTEM!! In the course of moving the church's stuff, the mixing board, monitors, monitor stands, and a couple of mic stands somehow :D got placed in my car and off to my friends house, lol.
Unfortunately after like two days, the guilt was killing us, so we brought the equipment back to my house and mixed it in with some other stuff the church has yet to pick up.
You see, I'm far from religious, but I've always had this theory that I will one day die of something unatural...LIKE LIGHTNING!!! So we figured it would just be better to buy our own equipment later on.
What suks is that its been like four months now and they still haven't picked this stuff up....so I guess god wants us to use it from time to time  .
