Hello, I have a squier strat, and it's starting to piss me off just a tad. The bridge is angled up at an angle that frightens me. It wouldn't really bug me, but it wasn't like that when I got it. Do I just need to add more tremolo springs? I have 3 already, and I dont think that's the answer, seeing as I've always used only 3. Does the truss rod need adjusting? What's the deal?

Some pictures would help us to help you. Do you use the whammy bar at all?

Dude...I know exactly what you're talking about. My first 2 guitars were like that...they were pretty crappy. I never did figure out how to fix them...I just ended up smashing those guitars. Get a washburn...you won't be sorry. :D I'm interested to see what other people say tho.

if you don't know how to fix the trem I would suggest taking it to a tech. Did you change string gauges or anything else that might have caused this?

Well if its not a floating trem,I can't say ive ever heard of that happening.Pop the back cavity cover off to access the springs and see if they can be screwed(lol) in a bit further.
Try once,fail twice...

I hardly ever use the whammy bar. I took the back cavity off and screwed the tremolo in a bit further, but it only helped a little bit.

^that

i would take it to the local guitar shop. they should be able to tell you whats wrong with it. and most of the time for free.

Well, I moved the springs around a lot, and still nothing. I guess it could be from a change in string gauges......when I first got it, I used GHS light strings, now I use Ernie Ball Regulars or Power Slinkies. I guess I'm gonna need to take it in after all.........
Thanks for everything, though. I appreciate it.

I have a Jackson DKMG with a Floyd Rose on it. I switched from 9's to 11's and had to re-setup my trem. Anytime you change string gauges like that your trem will need work. ;)

Yeah, thats your problem right there...you should always get work done on your trem when you cahnge gauges...now, most stores (atleast in South Africa, in England they were better) would charge you for a full set up, but it really is a simple procedure...just add more springs to your system, and tighten/loosen the screws in the rear cavity accordingly...there is no correct position or angle at which your bridge should be (within reason) just leave it where it is comfortable and you should be fine.

I had the same kind of problem with the same kind of trem. if screwing the screws in all the way didn't help enough then you'll need another spring. I spent like $4 at the guitar store to get 4 new springs, put them in, problem solved.

Strange, sounds like somethings jamming or ceasing the bridge - I really like all Fenders and I would consider a guitar repair shop.
