I want to know which wah to get, unfortunately none of the guitar shops around me really actually have a large variety of effects to choose from, so I'm pretty much forced to buy off the internet and just go by soundclips (which are always decieving) and advice... which is where you come in, I need advice on which wah to get. I will be playing it in conjunction with a overdrive/distortion, I will probably be using it exclusively for solos and just goofing off. and I don't want to get one of those ones that costs like $200... preferably under $125 at the absolute maximum. I was looking at the original dunlop crybaby, do you think that'll do it for me.
one last thing, though it's not important, I think it'd be kinda cool if the wah could do that 70's waka-waka type thing... you know what I mean?
wah wah wah wah wah waaaaaaahhhhhh

Dunlop Crybaby 595Q. Good wah. Q knob changes the sweep range i think. Also has a volume boost and some other knobs that i cant think of off the top of my head. The manual gives setting suggestions. Runs about $130. Just look for 5 bucks in change in your sofa or something. Or get a used one.

535Q......you can adjust the sweep and volume and "Q"..I have it and like it though I only find settings useful.

they go for $110 on musicians friend. and yes, I was looking at that one, it seems like it does alot, but that's why I was reluctant... it wouldn't be something that I could just click on and go, I'd have to sit there and play with settings for a while... oh well, if it really is that great, then I'll probably go for it. sometime... I dunno when... I'm broke at the moment... pay day is tomorrow but I don't know if I want to blow all of that into a pedal just yet (especially since I just ordered an OD20 last week, and it hasn't even gotten here yet)

Nah...don't be intimidated. It just has the 4 freq sweeps that change the tone a lil. And of those, you'll prolly find a liking to 2 of them more than the others. I generally only ever use the brightest tone, but it's cool to have the variety and option to switch. Just think if you were stuck with the pedal that represented the freq. range you didn't care for as much.
It's built like a tank too though. I've had mine for oh, say, 8-9 years and still going strong.

Sorry for the crappy playing, it was rushed.
sweet, you even did the waka thing for me... you're awesome (and a pretty good player too, especially if you just threw that together in a few minutes) I think I may have just decided on my new pedal... can I ask you a quick question though? can you measure your's for me? just length and width, I need to know how much pedalboard space it's going to take up. and also tell me if the input/outputs are on the sides of the pedal or on the front of it. thanks.

so if the only difference between the bad horsie 1 and 2 is that 2 has a contour mode, and the contour mode isn't all that great, then why not just get the first one? or is there something else about this pedal that makes it better? hey, and thanks for doing all this for me akira.

It's all about the groove. First try just muting all your strings with your left hand and start strumming with your right. But the key is to get the groove going, then once you think you've got it, turn on the wah. There are many different "waka-waka" things you can do. It just takes a while to get all your limbs working together.

alright update time!
I just ordered a wah off musicians friend... and I got a... dunlop original crybaby. why? because first of all, it was only $70 compared to the other wahs I was looking at. second of all, I decided against the morley for one reason and one reason only, I don't like how it turns off when you take your foot off it, I'd rather have something with a footswitch.. I decided against an ibanez weeping demon (mentioned in another thread) because I could not find any sound clips, and I knew so little about it, plus it looks wierd.. I took the crybaby because 1: it's got the footswitch thing, 2: because it's a very well known and popular pedal, probably the most popular wah, and 3: it was cheaper.
I ordeded it tonight, hopefully it will be here by friday...

If you ordered the GCB-95 I think you might be disappointed. It does not have a very good sweep and you will not get alot of pronounced "wah".

no, it wasn't that gcb 95 or whatever, the one with the fasel inductor? no, it wasn't that one, it was the original one. this one

yea i just go a new wah to i got the vox 847 and is pretty cool i like the way it sounds so far
# 18
ok, so the wah got here... hmm... didn't know there was a difference between a GCB-95 and a GCB-95F I thought they were the same, so I have a GCB-95... and wow... it sucks... there is no pronounced wah (like you said, and it's very weak. it's good when playing clean (I got my 70's waka) but played with distortion for a lead sound just doesn't sound good (which is what I wanted to use the wah primarily for). so, I'm pretty ticked... I'm going to go find out what musician's friend's return policy is. and then save up a bit more and get a better wah (probably the bad horsie)

thats sucks im sorry to hear that. try the vox its sounds really good on every thing ive used it on
