and I went on their website and looked at the prices........ I think it's completely outragous! I mean, $20 for a restringing? dude, I'll restring anyone here's guitar for $20 bucks, and I'll probably do it in less then 10 minutes too. and $80-$100 for a full setup? come on! that's like 1/7 of my guitar!

does anyone else agree that this is outrageous, or is this the prices of a normal setup???

Yeah, that's overpriced. In their defense the full setup charge isn't just for the setup but for a lot of little things on the side like cleaning, polishing, nut adjustment, tremelo maintenance, screw replacement, etc.

I wonder if I could get away with charging that much to restring guitars.

In England UK, just a bridge ' set up ' alone is £25, which is well over $50, I think.

My tech charges CDN$72.00 per hour. And he's good enough at what he does that working pros make a point of looking him up when they're in town, because their livelihood depends on the quality of his work.

Those prices look high, especially considering they're in US dollars. The last setup I had done took about two hours, including custom-making a new nut from a corian blank, and adjusting the scale length for the Buzz Feiten tuning system. Which I can now recommend, by the way. A lot fewer of those strange discords when I'm pushing the amp hard.

Our in-town shop closed actually, but back when I started playin that's where I got my guitar. Come time to change strings, they offered not only to do it for free, but showed me how to do it myself. Sure, their prices on strings were more than the "supercenters", but I remembered that gesture and shopped there anyway.
