I actually "blew" one of my speakers in my 4x12 the other day! I was messin around with the clean channel on my Triple X head and turned the master volume up all the way and then the channel volume up about half way and got a cool crunch, so I turned it up to about 3 o'clock and got a sweet AC/DC type tone for about 10 seconds before BAM! I hear a pop and then the top left speaker is rattling very bad. So, I take the speaker out, and if I shake it, I can hear something ratteling inside it. What did I do to the speaker (technically speaking)?

It was an Eminence Governor btw.

It sounds like you may have busted the coil. I believe you can get the speaker repaired. Look in your local yellowpages for speaker repair or something to that effect. When I lived in Houston, there was a guy doing repairs of this type and I think he was charging about 50 to 75 dollars.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

I contacted Eminence about it, and am sending it in for warranty "evaluation". Plus it would be cheaper to get a new one than to pay to have it fixed.

Repaired speakers won't sound as good as a brand new one either. That sucks man... I'm sure they will cover the warranty on it though.
