Ok I am in a band and in the UK. I want to copyright my music. How do I go about this? Please understand that this is so another band cannot copy my songs and say they are theirs. I will be giving away a lot of my newest recordings over the net.

This has nothing to do with the Napster issue.

As far as I know, all you have to do is declare a copyright. You may want to mail yourself a recording (if they date packages in the UK) and keep it sealed. In the US that counts as a federally certified date which you can use in court (if push comes to shove). You may want to check the web... their may be a page that can help you out.

It might be different in the UK, but we Austrealians have many similar laws. In Aus, copyright, you just have to have proof of dates. The easiest way to get this is simply go to the post office, and get them to date stamp each page of your work, as that is accepted proof of date.
