ive had my gibson les paul custom for a while and love it, but when i bought it (2nd hand) the binding on the bottom of the neck/fretboard was/is damaged where the binding is raised to make the ends of the frets.
basically the bottom end of every fret (which is made up by the binding) is damaged, which shortens the fret by about 1.5mm.
its only really a minor problem as it doesnt hamper my general playing/soloing, but when i play left hand only legato hammer on/pull off patterns, or some tapping patterns, i sometimes pull the e string enough that it snags on the damaged fret end, causing a nasty squeal.
soooo....
has anyone ever had the neck binding replaced on their les paul, or know someone who has, or have an idea how big/expensive a job it would be?
