Does it need any specifiq equipment to make a nice, punk, palm muting sound. If not, how can I make one?

I thought punk players didn't do any palm mutes. They usually just strum.

well...it's true that punk bands don't use palm muting that much but if you listen to songs from the band gob, you'll see that they use a lot of palm muting.

Well, I've never heard of Gob, but if you want a good and loud palm muting sound, no better one can be had than with a Marshall half-stack.

The sound from that baby will knock you on your ass.

I've been to quite a few shows, that were punk, like what was said earlier, Marshall tube amps give a nice lovely sound that brings a tear to my eye.

But, hold your palm somewhat loosely on the strings (not so loose that it's like it's not there in the first place), and strum HARD

All the punk bands I listen to use palm muting in their songs. My palm muting sounds good when I keep it at a moderate speed, but when I try to palm mute really fast, you hear the muting but you also hear my pick scraping louder than if I were muting a tad slower. Anyone know how to remedy this? TIA
