I was recently on the emg pickups website and I saw something called the emg afterburner, I don't have active pickups so will this create installation problems? Im installing it on an Sg if i do getit. and for any of you who have experience with it is it good?

Its a a guitar 'booster' correct? You would be much better served with a pedal like a duncan pickup booster or something for sheer conviniance

Passive electronics enables you to "manipulate" the sound whereas active preamps offer only one flavour...

I have the EMG Hz on my Jackson. The have a tap for +20 db boost.

It is not brilliant.

It is good for pinch harmonics and whammy dives and bringing up the noise floor. It is also good for overloading inputs.

I think they are very so so !
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.
