Sweep picking help

For the eight years ive been playing guitar, ive just been learning and practicing from all my tab books and stuff like that. I am only now just starting to care about technique. Until about 2 weeks ago, i didn't even know that sweep picking existed. Can anyone just give me a quick begginers course on it and what i could do to imrove myself? Thanks :cool:
