Hey guys! I need some help here. You know the guy from ZZ Top, Billy Gibbons?
Anyhowz, i have a question. Please don"t think I2m stupid or anything. In their song La grange, how does he get that squealing sound on the guitar as he is moving towards the end of the solo? It sounds like a harmonic, (hope this is the right word) bu i am pretty sure it isn"t. And, to make it sound really stupid,
ocasionally i can get the same sound out of my guitar and i haven"t got a clue how. Is it because i pick harder or i slightly touch the wires with my picking hand, i dont have a clue. Please people, help me out here. I would really like to
learn to play that.
P l e a s e? :(

It's called a 'pinch harmonic'. It happens when you touch the string just after you pick it. Usually this involves holding the pick with your thumb near the tip so that it just brushes the string as the pick releases it. Click the search icon at the top of the page to find a lot of discussion of this technique.

Dude, you have my utmost gratittude. I got a hang of it. The easiest way to get that tones is on the g or h string from frets 12-15. But you can get them on the other frets. Nice distortion, heavy pick and new strings and there they are!
Thanks again dude!!

Sorry guys, i forgot. In Croatia we do not have b. In our country that is an
h tone. See, the scale in Croatia goes like A B H C C#...etc. other tones
are the same like in English, but your b is our h.

Ipak sam ja HRVAT!!
