HEy everyone,

I've been thinking about getting a new neck pickup for my sg because the stock one sounds to muddy on the lows and not clear enough for anything to sound good. I think i want a kind of john petrucci like sound but i have'nt looked into it much. Any ideas for a good neck pickup for the j.p. sound or any other good sound?

I use DiMarzio pickups exclusively, so I don't feel qualified to comment on other brands. FWIW, I'd go with either a Super II DP104 or a PAF Pro DP151.

Well, then it's a good thing JP also uses DiMarzio exclusively.

I think he currently uses custom pickups (still from DiMarzio), but he used to use an Air Norton in the neck and a Steve's Special in the bridge.

yea the FAF Pros are really nice, just to name a couple out of the top of my head, Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert.

Or if you want a bit more bluesier pickups with more mids, try the DiMarzio FRED

I have found that Lawrence Sound Research pups give me MY tone for less bucks. I think you can only find them on line now, Dime used to use them but

switched he got money for an endorsement.
