Hey, I've been playing guitar since this august, I have snapped my high E string twice already, I replaced all six strings the first time but I felt I made it harder than it had to be. My first question is can I buy just a single string if I know I need a gauge 9 or do I need to spend another $8 on 6 more strings. my second question is: is there an easier way to connect the string to the tuners, I wrapped it around in some wierd way that wasn't very easy... it took me over an hour to replace the strings and after I cut off the excess I kept getting my finger tips poked by the ends of the strings. anyway if you can either describe in detail or leave a link to a website with pictures/video that would be helpful, thanks guys

Oh yeah, you can buy individual strings....

What kind of guitar is it? They are different, so we need to know what you got to explain it the correct way. Also, does it have a locking trem?

Buy locking tuners and get rid of the headache once and for all!
It'll also stay in tune forever!

Get someone who knows what they are doing to string your guitar for you once. Pay them if you have to. But make sure you watch them very carefully and memorize the proper way. That way, when you get advice in written form, it'll make a ton more sense. Any suggestions we give you now will be complete gibberish to you unless we actually came over there and showed you.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

buy at least 3-5 extra high E, B, and G strings for your axe. And yes, you certainly can get them seperately. Yes, particularly those high E strings can bust on ya before you know it!

I have an electric guitar, ibanez, looks like a strat but with one humbucker and 2 single coilovers. and no I don't have one of those locking tuner things. when I was at the music store buying my guitar the salesperson told me they would be a bad idea for my first guitar because it would make it much more difficult to tune and change strings. do you think higher gauge strings would be better? I play in dropped d and dropped d-flat tunings alot.

Your not the only one. Me so stupid, I fought for a month trying to string and tune my guitar when all it took was a trip on the net.
