I was reading a tab and a note is played on an open string...but it has a hammer on. How do i go about hammering on a open note?

Thanks.

To be clearer, there was no note played before it.

yup

there was a 7-9 on the strong below with a hammer on semi loop, then a hammer on loop to a -0- on the string above. There was no note played on that string before it (open string) so it couldnt have been a pull off.

I don't think it's possible...
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.

Are you sure it was a hammer on (did it say "H")?
It wasn't like a bow?
If so, it could be legato, indicating it should be played smoothly.
