Well i just picked up SRV live at the Montreux DVD. It is awesome! I have never seen a player play with such passion and fire. Then right after watching it, i turned off my dvd, to find three dudes rapping on Jay Leno. It was like watching a fierri race then switching to a bunch of Honda's race right after. Even though i am no fan of rap, after this experience it has only made me even less tolerant. It really made me open my eyes to the general lack of musical talent found in music today...not just rap (which is the worst), but even rock. Oh well i guess there still is country ;) .

P.S. for those of you who havent seen Live at the Montreux and are SRV fans, for shame, u dont know what your missing!
WWSD? What would stevie do?

I was thinking of adding a new DVD to my collection. I was thinking of getting David Gilmour Live, but now I might reconsider.

Yeah, I have the Gilmour live DVD, but it's kind of boring. I got it real cheap with free shipping, though, so it's OK. He does a lot of acoustic stuff and doesn't really break out at any point. I think he's getting too old for that. He does Comfortably Numb (twice, IIRC), but never really wails like on the Pulse concert video. That's a DVD I'd heartily recommend. Well worth your dough.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Thanks for the tip, I was unaware it was mostly acoustic. I wanna see him rip into some of his solos... Tell me about the Pulse DVD.

The Pulse concert video is pure wickedness. The only drawback is that Roger Waters isn't singing any of the songs (for obvious reasons). It's a concert in 1994 at the Royal Albert Hall, which is apparently an amazing venue. I have the VHS version and the double CD of the concert.

They play their best songs and also recreate Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety on the second disc of the CD, or about halfway through the video version. This was back when Gilmour was about 50 or so, not 60 like on the new solo DVD. He was more willing to let 'er rip and extends most of his solos (e.g. Comfortably Numb-- worth the price itself for the amazing outro solo!).

The DVD version is forthcoming according to Amazon.com; it will apparently have some extra features, so it may be worth waiting for rather than buying either the VHS version or a DVD bootleg of the VHS.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Pulse is one of the best concerts in history, if not the best !
Not to mention that 4+ minutes last solo from "Comfortably Numb".

Sorry "Polera" , we've twisted your SRV thread into Pink Floyd. :o

It's OK, he's Canadian-- he's used to being stepped over.

Wait a second--- so am I!

BTW, I just heard an ad this morning for "Canadian Bacon", starring John Candy and Rhea Perlman. I remember it being pretty funny. But then again, I was probably about 12 when I first saw that movie.

I wonder why they were having an ad for that movie...it came out so long ago...but I do remember it being hilarious, most movies with John Candy are.
