im going to buy a second guitar very soon and i like both the Ibanez RG1570 guitar in the prestige range and the Fender Fat Strat with a Floyd Rose licensed tremolo but even after looking at both of them i really cant decide which is best for me.

i mostly play blues/rock, and i also play a bit of metal and some shred/neo-classical.

my fave bands/artists are the white stripes, jon spencer blues explosion, jimi hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, van halen, the clash, the deftones and megadeth, so ill be playing songs by these bands and music in their style.

the ibanez has 2 humbuckers and 1 single coil and the fat strat has 2 single coils and 1 humbucker in the bridge and both have double locking tremolo's. and both are about £450-£500 (ibanez includes hardcase)

ive heard the ibanez is really versatile and my guess is that the fat strat should be pretty versatile too, i really like strats but i want the most versatile and the best i can get for the amount of cash im going to spend.

which do you think will suit me best?

i'm not sure if this will help, but Kirk Hammett used a ESP Fat Strat copy when recording '...And justice for all' and the self titled (black) Metallica albums.

i personally would go the Fat Strat.

The pickups Hammet had in his ESP Strat copy weren't exactly what come stock in a Fender though. :P

If I had to choose between those two I'd definitely pick the Ibanez ... The main reason is that the Ibanez has 24 frets , and the Fender is usualy 21 frets.
About the SSH pickup configuration , I'm sure there has to be an RG model like that.

If I were to buy a Fender strat anyway , I'd stick with the standard model.
