Whats your vote on who has the best lyrical voice, ie. range, intonation etc. etc?

I heard bon jovi acouple of years ago and man can he sing. Also when Axl is not screeching hes pretty muscially capable as well.

Please do not respond by singers from punk groups and heavy death metal :) .
WWSD? What would stevie do?

As for range, I'd say Freddie Mercury. He not only hit the highs, but could also sing low notes with power and a wicked tone, whereas I think the guy from the Darkness can only scream super high. Also, the singer from Scorpions (can't remember his name offhand and am too lazy to Google it).

Tone-wise, I like Freddie Mercury, Thom Yorke, Chris Cornell, Janis Joplin. There are others...
... and that's all I have to say about that.

I dunno, I think falsetto shouldn't count as part of one's actual range. If it does, then I have a larger range than he.

I think Luciano Pavarotti probably has the best voice.

No one ever notices because of his incredible guitar work but SRV was a VERY good singer. Hendrix was also very good on some of his songs.. live he sounded bad singing though.

Hey here's another vote for Lajon! On the SEvendust acoustic album, he really showcases his voice well. Hasn't anyone heard of Avenged SEvenfold? Great bunch of guys and the singer, M. Shadows, can really wail.

I am agreeing on most of the singers mentioned but I also think that Dave Matthew got an amazing voice. Its kinda 'crumbled' but it really got power to make the songs moodish.

i really like John Farnam, he is an ozzie singer, he has a great range, and a lot of power.

if we are going into classical (someone meantioned Pavarotti) i would have to put my vote in for Andrea Bocelli.

Robert Plants voice is just... the best. Of course, Janis Joplin's was the best thing ever to come out of a female rockin' roller, and I worship her.

Hmm...

Tracy Chapman - Really emotional voice.
Axl Rose - He has all these crazy voices he does!

Or..

George Michael - When he sung 'Somebody to love' with Queen I new Id never hear better singing! And i havent since! Utterly amazing performance that was!
