How to Use Finger Rolls

Can't quite get the hang of the finger roll technique? In this video, Mike will break it down for you and make it super easy to understand!

A useful little technique, the finger roll employs a bit of barring/muting with one finger in order to get some more note separation during licks. It essentially allows you to mute one string as you move to the next.

First, Mike will show you the general technique and how to move back and forth between two strings. Next, he'll demonstrate some great ways to practice that technique and really nail it before moving on to adding more notes and strings. Finally, he'll show you how to use the finger roll technique with three strings, which you'll likely come across quite a bit as you link together licks to form solos and transition into and out of rhythm playing.
