Dickey Betts Artist Study: Gear & Tone

Betts plays a wide variety of guitars and amps, but he is mostly known for playing a Gibson Les Paul to get his smooth, rounded tone and plugs his guitar straight into the amp, forgoing effects. For amps, he prefers the classic tube amp variety to get a clean tone with just a hint of sweet saturation when he needs it. These are very basic gear tools and we must remember that Betts relied on his fingers for a big part of his tone, and that’s a great lesson for all guitarists!
