Townshend used a Schecter Telecaster equipped with humbucker pickups and a B-bender for the recording of this song, but any guitar with a humbucker pickup in the bridge position will work great. You can hear the B-bender in action on the song with any full step bends on the second string. They have a more pedal steel, smooth quality to them.

As far as amps go, any Fender style tube amp is a desirable choice. Set the amp for a clean sound. Set the Drive to 25%, Bass to 45%, Mid to 55%, Treble to 60%, and Presence to 60%.

Add some reverb for depth.

I’m using 10-46 gage with a heavy pick to attack the groove and licks.

Here are the settings I used:
Fender Deluxe Model:
Drive: 25% Bass: 45% Mid: 55% Treb: 60% Presence: 60%
Spring Reverb:
WetDryMIX: 35%
