"Glycerine" as made famous by Bush is classic 90s alternative rock featuring some straight forward, grungy rhythm guitar work mixed with strings and a plaintive vocal.

There is one electric guitar layer in this tune that uses a distorted tone to play through the arrangement.

The song opens with the main chord progression played with consistent but restrained strums. The sound is distorted but how hard the chords are strummed dictates the dynamic arc of the tune. There is a slight departure from the rest of the tune in the chorus. It features less chords and a shorter form. There is also a bridge section that plays a different progression and lets the strings take center stage.

In the following lessons, we'll talk about barre chords and suspended chords, powerful syncopated strumming, and dynamics. We are in the key of F major, with a 4/4 time signature, at a tempo of 114 BPM.
