I'm using a Les Paul for this tune, but any guitar is suitable. The tone has more to do with the amp settings. I'm choosing the bridge pickup for a clearer, powerful sound.

As far as amps go, any Marshall style tube amp is a fine choice. Set the Drive to 80%, Bass to 50%, Mids to 55%, Treble and Presence to 60%. You could roll down your volume knob to clean up the tone, or set your amp for clean, then kick in an overdrive or distortion pedal to get your crunch sound.

Add some reverb for depth.

I used a 10-46 string gage, with a heavy pick so I can dig into those heavy riffs.

Here are the settings I used:

Marshall Plexi Model:
Drive: 80% Bass: 50% Mid: 55% Treb: 60% Presence: 60%
Spring Reverb:
WetDryMIX: 35%
