A semi-hollowbody electric guitar is the authentic choice to play this tune, but any guitar with a pickup in the neck position can come close to the tone. The neck pickup gives a bell-like round and full sound perfect for early rock and roll.

As far as amps go, any small Fender style tube combo amplifier is a perfect choice. Crank the amp up to get a raw, slightly overdriven sound. Set the Drive to 85%, Bass to 45%, Mid to 55%, Treble to 60%, and Presence to 65%.

I'm also using a slap echo effect to give an authentic early rock and roll sound. Add some reverb for depth.

I used a 10-46 string gage, with a heavy pick so I can get aggressive with the rhythms and leads.

Here are the settings I used:

Fender Deluxe Model:
Drive: 85% Bass: 45% Mid: 55% Treb: 60% Presence: 65%
Slap Echo:
DelayTime: 115ms Feedback: 0 Wet/DryMIX: 40%
Spring Reverb:
WetDryMIX: 40%
