What's up, it's Mike from Guitar Tricks, teaching you "Fast As You" as made famous by Dwight Yoakam. This is a an early nineties country hit that features some textbook country riffing and soloing, as well as some steady acoustic strumming.

This song features 3 guitar layers. Guitar 1 is an electric guitar that plays some great riffs throughout the tune. Guitar 2 is an acoustic guitar that plays a combination of open chords and power chords with steady strumming. Guitar 3 is a lead guitar that digs into some killer country licks.

The tune starts out with an iconic bluesy riff in straight eighths. The band kicks in and leads us into the verse that features a chord progression based off the 12 bar blues that incorporates the intro riff. The bridge adds a little more drama by switching to a double time feel. The solo section features some great licks using plenty of bending and double stops. The outro solo continues with this approach and builds to a climactic ending.
To play this tune using only one guitar, you'll play the rhythm electric guitar, switching to the lead guitar for the solo and outro.

In the following lessons, we'll talk straight eight riffing, steady acoustic strumming, double stops and textbook country licks. We are in the key of E major, with a 4/4 time signature, at a tempo of 126 BPM.
