In this tutorial we are going to learn how to play "The Gambler" as performed by Kenny Rogers.

This country classic features an easy chord progression, some cool hybrid picking, as well as some modulating chords that create a nice build in the song.

While there are two guitars playing throughout the recording, at the core of this song is a very easy chord progression that you can strum along with one guitar. During the intro and first two verses, there is some cool hybrid picking going on between the two guitars. I am going to combine those two parts, playing some of those licks so you can start off with that and then work your way into the strumming. I will also show you how to play those same sections just strumming along with open chords.

We will be using an acoustic guitar with a capo on the first fret to play along with the song.

"The Gambler" switches from the key of E-flat to the key of E, and is in 4/4 time with the occasional bar of 2/4.
