Now it's time to get into the solo. This is one of my all time favorite blues solos; one of the reasons I like this particular solo so much is that it incorporates a lot of different techniques but always remains steeped in that really heavy blues vibe that only B.B. can conjure.

B.B.'s phrasing and timing really stands out here. As we move along in the solo and do variations on the pentatonic licks, notice how he also slightly alters the timing every time he plays a phrase. Also be aware of dynamics as you play this solo - these old school blues legends do this naturally, but for some people the tendency is to go full blast with the licks and try to just nail the notes.

There's a lot of emotional value in the dynamics of the notes being played. You're really telling a story with this solo, and no good storyteller has ever just shouted out the facts of the story. B.B. is master of this and tames back the dynamics when he wants and pushes louder when he wants.
