What's up everyone! It's Mike from Guitar Tricks teaching you "Ode To Billie Joe", as made famous by Bobbie Gentry. This is a classic late 60s folk/country narrative that features some straight ahead guitar accompaniment.

Any acoustic guitar will work well to learn this tune, but a nylon string classical guitar is the most authentic choice, as it is the type of guitar used on the original recording.

In the following lessons, we'll talk about a fingerstyle technique, dampening the strings, seventh chords, and 16th note syncopation.

We are in the key of D, a 4/4 time signature, at a tempo of 119 bpm.
