First let's talk a little bit about the gear and tone that I'll be using for this song, but always remember that you can play almost any song on almost any piece of gear. It's ultimately all in how you dial whatever gear you have, and how you play.

For this song you need an acoustic guitar with either steel or nylon strings. I'll be using my Martin style VKV acoustic, because it's steel strings that you hear on the record, but the nylon strings will work too. It will just sound a bit more Mexican than Texan.

I'm using a light pick for all the strumming, and for the lead playing I'm using one that is slightly thicker. It sounds a little "fatter" for the single notes, but it gets a little brittle if you try to strum with it.
