Halfway through the second A-section, another guitar enters highlighting the chord progression with some strums and arpeggiations. Note the double stop played with the A chord includes the major 3rd of A, which takes the song outside the key of C major (should be a minor 3rd to stay in the key). This adds some tension and catches your ear in that section.

Also the double stop over the D chord includes a C note which makes the chord dominant. Once into the B-section, the part changes to some simple strums of triads that reflect the chord progression.
