Tapping is a great technique that allows you to play notes that are spread wide apart on the same string. In this lesson I'll show you how to tap in the style of Eddie Van Halen.

Compared to alternate picking, sweeping, economy picking etc., tapping is an easy way to play fast. It gets very cool if you know what you're doing, and outline the chords you're playing over by tapping the arpeggios of those chords.

So all you need to do is learn the basic tapping technique, and then spend some time learning what notes are in each chord, and where they are on the fretboard.

In the backing track of this lesson, the progression goes:

Bm | E | D | G |
Bm | E | D | G F# |

Tip: See if you can figure out what arpeggios Eddie's using in the tapping section of "Eruption".
