Harmonized E Minor Scale

In this lesson we change the harmony from the E major scale to the E minor scale. We'll use the same right hand picking motions.

Again, isolating the notes of the scale on the D-string and the E-string makes it easier to see the intervals of the minor scale and the resultant minor scale harmonic structure. The chord qualities of the harmonized minor scale are:

i - one chord - minor
ii - two chord - diminished
III - three chord - major
iv - four chord - minor
v - five chord - minor
VI - six chord - major - not used in this exercise
VII - seven chord - major - not used in this exercise

We also have a major V chord because we are using a D#, to create the altered harmonic minor scale.
